If accepted, you will spend two full days of learning at Eaton RESA with other members of the network learning about the 3-P framework and planning your unit. Then, you will implement your unit with
financial support from Mi-STEM for unit supplies (up to $500/teacher). Finally, you will share your experience with other educators to promote 3-P learning in our region. OPEN TO ALL GRADES AND SUBJECTS.

The Michigan Department of Education (MDE) and the CS for Michigan Collaborative is partnering with the Michigan Association for Computer Users in Learning (MACUL) to continue our efforts in bringing you a unique learning opportunity to connect statewide work in the areas of Computer Science, including the implementation of the K-12 CS Standards and many other technology-driven initiatives.

CSforMichigan will be hosting two days of focused learning, networking and in person tinkering on all things Computer Science. We hope that you block off the time on your calendars to join us for our in-depth workshops and the CSforMichigan Event on October 3-4, 2024 with a focus exploring, learning from peers and sessions to expand your Computer Science knowledge.

Phase 1 is designed to provide an introduction to the Mi-STAR curriculum structure, and consists of two learning experiences: an asynchronous Introduction to the Curriculum course in Canvas, along with a total of six hours of live virtual or face-to-face sessions where teachers work collaboratively to experience key Mi-STAR unit, lesson, and assessment components.

This program focuses on the scientific-engineering practices of developing

and using models, engaging in argumentation, and constructing explanations,

and will allow K-12 teachers to engage as adult learners with science content

3P Train the Trainer

The Math and Computer Science Action Areas are bringing educators a comprehensive learning series to meaningfully integrate mathematics and computer science through the 

 workshop. This 5-day workshop series will equip educators with the ability to implement module based math lessons that capitalize on the modern digital tools that computer science offers to support effective and efficient teaching and learning. Educators will have access to FREE CURRICULUM RESOURCES to implement in the 2024-25 academic school year.

The Tri-County Culturally Responsive Mathematics Summer Institute is a virtual experience that brings together teachers, high school students, and pre-service teachers to work collaboratively to write culturally responsive math tasks to be piloted in their classrooms. Cohorts work with researchers in the field of culturally responsive teaching and mathematics education in the development of creating high-quality culturally responsive tasks.

We are excited to invite 6-12 teachers and high school students from Oakland, Wayne and Washtenaw counties, and 1 teacher and 1 student from each MiSTEM region to participate in our summer institute. High school students will work on a team with teachers and college students to create meaningful mathematics tasks.

The MiSTEM Network is providing 96 scholarships for Michigan educators to attend face-to-face AVMR 1 or 2 (Add+Vantage Math Recovery course 1 or 2) workshop. 


Three AVMR 1 cohorts are offered and ONE AVMR 2 cohort is offered.




The workshop series consists of 4 sessions from 8:00am - 4:00pm. The MiSTEM network is offering  scholarships for attendees that includes:

Add+VantageMR® (AVMR) Fractions Course is a virtual and online learning opportunity. This course complements current Math Recovery® course offerings in early number and whole number arithmetic. Developing Fractions Knowledge, by Amy Hackenberg, Anderson Norton, & Robert Wright, serves as the course text and provides a detailed and comprehensive guide to classroom and intervention teaching of fractions. The teaching approach relies heavily on observing and documenting students' mathematical activity and thinking. Instructional sequences take into account detailed information about students' current levels of knowledge, as well as how students reorganize their ways of working with whole numbers in order to meaningfully work with fractions.

The course extends the learning during AVMR 1 to topics such as multiplication & division, and conceptual place value

Cereal City Science Virtual Learning

In support of K-5 science teaching and learning, a leadership team of representatives from the Michigan Science Education Leadership Association (MSELA) and Michigan Elementary and Middle School Principals Association (MEMSPA), in partnership with the CREATE for STEM Institute at Michigan State University (MSU), will bring together state and national science leaders to the campus of MSU on May 29, 2024 to discuss a shared research-based vision for teaching and learning of science in the elementary grades. We hope this will result in recommendations and next steps for achieving this vision so that all children in the state of Michigan can experience the joy of learning science. Educational leadership teams will be invited to attend the event including ISD and district curriculum directors, instructional coaches, principals, teacher leaders, and other local district leadership. This is a no-cost event.

CREATE for STEM Institute at Michigan State University (MSU), will bring together state and national science leaders to discuss a shared research-based vision for teaching and learning of science in the elementary grades.
